SUPPORT OUR
EMERGENCY LEGAL FUND, 24/7 HOTLINE AND CASE MANAGEMENT EFFORTS
Your tax-deductible donation today to Voces Unidas de las Montañas, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, will support the following activities in Colorado’s rural mountain communities:
- Staff a regional immigration hotline (970-340-8586) where members of the community and impacted people can call to report ICE activity and receive support
- Provide free legal consultations with experienced attorneys who travel to Aurora, ensuring detainees know their rights before signing any documents and can pursue their day in immigration court
- Connect families with trusted local nonprofits for housing, food, mental health care, and other critical services so families are not left to navigate the fallout of a detention alone
- Offer know your rights trainings and education to members of the community
- And more
We serve 15 counties in the Western Slope. All residents from these counties can access a free in-person legal consultation if they find themselves in the Aurora detention center. We also consider supporting extended legal cases when there is a high probability of family reunification and money is the barrier.
It costs us about $400 (on average) to be able to provide an in-person consultation to one person in Aurora. To fight a case in federal court and immigration court, it can cost up to $10,000 per case.
Voces Unidas hopes to fundraise $150,000 every six months to be able to continue to offer these services for the next three years.
